A hotel worker was today fined RM2,000 in default four months' jail after pleading guilty to groping the buttocks of a 64-year-old woman in a surau at Taman Nirwana, Ampang Jaya on Tuesday.

Salahudin Hassan Sha, 23, was charged in the Ampang magistrate's court with using criminal force with intent to outrage the modesty of the retired teacher in the prayer room of the surau at Taman Nirwana at 4.55pm on April 19, 2011.

Salahudin, who was unrepresented by counsel, was charged under Section 453 of the Penal Code which provides for a jail sentence of up to 10 years or a fine or caning or any two of the three penalties.

Magistrate Wan Karimah Wan Md Abdul Ghani fined Salahudin RM2,000 in default four months' jail. Salahudin paid the fine.

In the same court, a Burmese labourer, Mohd Ali Mohd Yunus, 28, was charged with the murder of his adopted son, aged two years and 10 months, at lot 1414, Lorong Permai 29, Ampang Campuran, Ampang Jaya between 10am and midnight on April 12.

Wan Karimah set June 21 to enable the accused to appoint a counsel.
