PM, show you're in charge, go after Utusan

Cannon: This shows Najib Razak is a weak prime minister who is not in command of his own party. He advocates 1Malaysia while his Umno warlords, with their huge vested interests to protect, are resisting change and pull in the opposite direction to maintain the status quo.

The Umno elites are riding on the backs of Malaysians who work hard to contribute to the GNP. They siphon our national wealth into their private pockets through the NEP, and now they are doing the same, using different names, NEM, GTP, ETP, etc. They bluff no one but themselves. A vote for BN is a vote for Umno and for more of the same.

Umno is a hydra with many heads - and Najib is only one of them. The party that champions religion is also the same party that spews out smut and subjects the Malaysian public to an unending and revolting staple of sodomy. Racism, too, is in the imprint of this party, courtesy of the DNA of its Umno Baru founding father, 'Apa-nama'.

Quigonbond: If I wrote an article highly critical of Umno, Perkasa and Utusan Malaysia, calling them racists and religious bigots, and have it published in, say, New Straits Times , I have no doubt that NST will be issued a show-cause letter for publishing my ‘personal opinion'.

Najib's administration is turning out to have the most humiliating blunders and bloopers compared to the "sleeping ex-PM" and Najib must have been the "slipping PM" without much power.

David Dass: I think that these fear tactics do not really work any more. And if they do work they only serve to frighten people into leaving the country. So in the end, it is really our leaders deciding what they want.

Even Mahathir finds the suggestion unacceptable although more than once he has said that the Malays can rule the country on their own. We have a beautiful country. It is rich in resources and can easily support a population of 28 million. There is enough for everyone.

We cannot and should not resent those who are hard working and enterprising. We should encourage all to be hard-working and enterprising.

We should not have a policy that actively seeks the creation of billionaires. The poor can take little comfort from the fact that there are many of their race who are billionaires. The ethnicity of billionaires should not be paraded to make the point that one race is better than the other.

Have programmes to bring out the best in our people. 1Malaysia is a good idea. Rein in the Utusan .

lbl: The government goes after any other newspaper if they are out of line. Unfortunately Utusan is exempted from any action by the government. How do expect us to believe 1Malaysia?

MCA calls on public to boycott Utusan

Wira: Dear Malaysiakini , your headline is misleading. MCA did not call on the public to boycott Utusan . Only the party deputy publicity chief did and the call was not universal.

The statement was issued in Mandarin, meaning the dispatch was only intended for the Chinese only. If MCA is serious about the call, they should take out a full-page advertisement on this in the Star , which is owned by them.

MCA will not dare to take on Utusan because the latter is the de facto mouthpiece of Umno. Just one protest threat from Perkasa and we will see MCA repudiating knowledge that a junior officer of the party had acted out of line.

Anonymous_3da0: There seem to be a continued attempt to forge Malaysian politics along racial lines - real or imagined - in the mainstream media when the opposite should be encouraged.

This has gone on for too long, only for certain politicians to then brand Malaysian politics as being racial in nature. We call this a self-fulfilling prophecy and those irresponsible politicians should be brought to book.

Atan-Toyol: Loh Seng Kok, I have a better idea. Just take MCA out of BN and stand together with Pakatan Rakyat. You owe Umno nothing, except the few seats which MCA will lose anyway when even the Malays stop supporting those MCA candidates standing in Malay-majority areas, except in Pandan.

There is no permanent loyalty in politics as Mahathir used to say, so no love is lost between Umno and MCA if MCA is out of BN. The people are already fed-up with many things that are going on - mostly scripted by Umno.

Do something quick for the good of Malaysians. No need to call for the boycott of Utusan ; that's too trivial for many Malaysians.

Survivor: Loh, the opposition Pakatan has been calling the public to boycott Utusan for many years.

Your target group should be those from BN components parties such as Gerakan and MIC and all 13 other component parties. The best is that you should advise all Umno members to boycott Utusan , if only you can. Perhaps you may like to go to the kampong to tell all the Malays not to read Utusan .

Anonymous_3e06: MCA, boycott what? You have to come out in the open and tell the PM to stop this nonsense or you will pull out of BN. That, I suppose, is going to be extremely difficult.

The point is the people are waiting for a strong message. You have to deliver if you are going to be believed as a group of leaders who not only preach 1Malaysia but also walk the talk.

Cala: What is the motive of Utusan Malaysia's call to adopt a 1Melayu, 1Bumi concept? No doubt the intention is to ask the regime to further alienate non-Melayu and non-bumis from sharing national resources rightfully belong to everyone.

I sense a greater evil in the said plan. Instead of rectifying the imbalance situation of lop- sided distribution of resources, they are trying to create enemies out of anything non-Melayu, a tactic used by past colonial masters.

On the surface, in calling for 1Melayu, 1Bumi, it is akin to giving a tight slap on Najib's 1Malaysia campaign. In reality, the said paper is covering up the embarrassing position of the regime in the face of mass defection of voters in the Sarawak state election.
