The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) is investigating a complaint against several bloggers over the leak of the sex video purportedly featuring an opposition leader.

This has been made known to PKR Youth deputy information chief Rozan Azen Mat Rasip, who on April 5 lodged a complaint against the bloggers who posted a clip of the video on the Internet.

"I received a call from MCMC last Friday asking me to come to their office in Cyberjaya to give a statement for their investigations into my complaint," he said when contacted.

NONE Rozan ( right ), who will give his statement tomorrow, lodged the complaint against the owners of BN-friendly blogs www.papagomo.com and www.pisau.net , as well as YouTube user thepowercam , who had posted the clip on the website.

The black-and-white clip, which lasts 1:47 minutes, was leaked on April 4, but was shortly afterwards taken off YouTube.

The clip is still available on the front page of www.papagomo.com, while several other YouTube users have re-posted it under their accounts.

Done with 'malicious intent'

"In my report, I queried how the video, which was said to be only in the possession of the Datuk T, was leaked.

"The fact that these bloggers posted the video almost immediately and named (PKR de facto leader) Anwar Ibrahim as the man in the video also shows malicious intent," Rozan said.

It is understood that MCMC is investigating the matter under Section 233 of the Multimedia and Communications Act 1998, which deals with the "improper use of facilities or network services".

This includes posting "obscene, indecent, false, menacing or offensive" material on the Internet "with the intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass another person".

The offence carries a maximum penalty of RM50, 000 or a jail term not exceeding one year or both, as well as a fine of RM1,000 a day if the offence is continued after conviction.
