The Selangor government will spend RM600,000 to put up 56 billboards in all state constituencies for its campaign to abolish the Internal Security Act (ISA).

Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said the allocation was obtained under the Privatisation Trust Account channelled to the Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI).

"As had been agreed at the last session of the State Legislative Assembly sitting, the state government will implement the information programme and promotion for the abolition of the ISA.

"The billboards containing information on the abolition of the ISA were part of efforts carried out for the purpose," he told reporters after chairing the weekly State Exco Meeting, here today.

    

Asked on the hearing by the Rights and Privileges Committee of the Selangor State Assembly scheduled for Friday, Abdul Khalid said it was necessary for the Port Klang assemblyperson, Badrul Hisham Abdullah to attend the hearing.

The State Assembly on April 1 had passed a motion to take action against Badrul Hisham and lawyer, Mohd Hafarizam Harun for insulting the Selangor State Assembly Speaker, Teng Chang Kim in a letter dated March 29.
