Dr M bemoans Malay rights defenders being called racist

Nik V: What a shameful man. If these type of racists place the human race above all instead of being ordinary ‘jaguh kampung' (village champions), they would be great leaders with the charisma they have.

He could have chosen to use his charismatic leadership to foster Malaysia into a great nation. But instead he has chosen to have the myopic charisma and leadership of Pauline Hanson and Nathan Bedford Forrest. Who is Nathan? He was the first Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan aka the Perkasa in Malaysia.

Mohd: It was being said that true great leaders in their tail-end of their life will be remembered as simply great. Sadly, as the tail-end of Dr Mahathir Mohamad is approaching, the ‘great' element is fast fading away. Whatever that he may have contributed to the country during his tenure as the PM, he himself is shattering it to pieces.

It is true what is mentioned in the Quran - Allah gives long life to his human subjects to either do good things so that they can continually uplift themselves in the eye of the Almighty or to do more misdeeds so that they will be forever rotten in the hereafter. Where is Mahathir positioning himself?

Gerard Samuel Vijayan: The non-Malays have nothing against the Malays. All races have co-existed in peace, tolerance and harmony over the years. We respect each other and help each other, especially in times of crisis.

What the non-Malays resent are the Umno Malays with their brand of racist supremacy, greed, corruption and abuses. It is these Umno Malays who even give Islam a bad name by their intolerance of other faiths. These are the petty Umno Malays who blame others for their weaknesses and deficiencies when they are the ones who benefitted from the NEP and have become rich and drunk with power.

They do not care for the ordinary and poor Malays, the farmers and fishermen, the villagers and urban poor who get nothing from all the so-called affirmative action programmes and policies of Umno under the guise of Ketuanan Melayu.

The non-Malays are willing to share their wealth and help these poor Malays, but Umno must change or be changed. Needs, not race, must be the basis of help.

Loyal Malaysian: I have loathed to call you by your proper name as I deem you a non-entity amidst your racist and extremist slants. This is no different - you have spoken with a forked tongue and twisted the facts.

The truth of the matter is that Malay rights have never been an issue in the reforms sought by the rakyat. Political power in the Pakatan Rakyat still lies with the Malays. A more enlightened Malay leadership in the Pakatan has seen that we are in this together - that for our country to progress, there should be no second-class citizenship.

Dr M, I will punch your face if you say I am less of a Malaysian than you are! We are all Malaysians, we have equal rights, there should not be ‘tuan' here and ‘tuan' there. These are hang-ups from the English days which you subconsciously cannot shed away.

Shout ‘Hidup Melayu' all you want, but do not deny the rest of Malaysians to shout ‘Hidup Malaysia'. As a sub-race of Malaysia, the Malays must subjugate themselves to be Malaysian first and whatever they want to be second.

After all, when you are abroad, do you say you are Malay or Malaysian? Shame on you if you are not proud to be a Malaysian.

Mangodurian: Just imagine, what a Malaysia this could be if there wasn't talk about race and we stop spending time and energy on this topic.

Instead we should take it that race is not important - what is important is our own nationality and decency. We can be brown, yellow, black white; who cares? As long as we work hard, be productive, we would be rewarded and aided where needed.

I am sure Malaysia can kick quite a few asses if we can do that.

Wfworker: But why are you calling others who also champion their cause racists? You seem to have two sets of dictionary; one for your kind and another for the rest of the society. If you can't behave like a statesman, don't try to act like one; you can only bluff the rural poor who have no access to alternative source of information, but only your propaganda.

Ttloo: Dr M is right to bemoan Malay rights defenders being called racist as the term used is too light. The correct term to be used is militant extremist since Perkasa has ventured into setting up Briged Setia Negara whose members are recruited from Rela and other sources who may be well versed in warfare.

Changeagent: Mahathir has gone completely bonkers. He forgot that he is part-Indian. Now he wants to punch our face if we remind him of that.

Malaysian for Malaysia: Every time an international body has negative findings on Malaysia, the BN government is quick dismiss it. Come on, how stupid do you think the people are?

A lot of these bodies have nothing to gain or lose if Malaysia is a success or a failed state. They're just doing their job of informing the international community the current state of affairs in Malaysia, which is in a sorry state anyway.

The BN has to recognise this and do something now. The most important aspect is raising the wages of the common man in the street. Commodity prices cannot be controlled as they are subject to global demand, but wages are.

It's time the local employers learn they have to pay for Malaysian labour. It's time to send the foreigners, numbering almost two million, home. It's time Malaysians reclaimed Malaysia for their own.

The Malaysian government does not have a choice in this - either BN acts now or the voters will act come the next GE.

Wifi: PM Najib Razak, please continue bury your head in the sand. It is good to be ignorant because it makes your remaining days as prime minister less painful. Face it, Malaysia is no longer a country of harmony since your 1Malaysia, costing RM70 million in taxpayers' money, that turns out to be just a scam.

James Dean: I am still waiting, after 30 years, for Najib to say something intelligent.
