Police have recorded statements from new witnesses to assist in the investigation into the death of a Selangor Customs Department assistant director.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Zulkifli Abdullah said the investigation

papers would be sent to the Attorney-General by Friday next week at the latest for further action.

"That's the nature of any investigation. We'll call up new witnesses if the need arises," he told reporters after attending a debate competition in Kuala Lumpur today.

Zulkifli also said that police were compiling certain documents in connection with the case.

Ahmad Sarbani Mohamed, 56, who was attached to the Port Klang Customs office, was found sprawled on the badminton court at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) building in Jalan Cochrane, on April 6.

He had reportedly gone there to meet an investigating officer in connection with graft and money laundering cases involving 62 Customs officers.

Police had earlier recorded statements from 44 witnesses before the

investigation papers sent to the Attorney-General were returned to them.
