Kelantan may be welcoming a raja perempuan after the sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad V, hinted that he may be getting married.

In a special new conference on the launch of the Sultan of Kelantan Foundation in Kota Baru yesterday, he was asked whether a wedding was on the cards.

NONE With a smile on his face, the sultan replied: “InsyaAllah (God willing), I’m praying for it, and InsyaAllah, God will make it happen.”

Sultan Muhammad, 42 ( right ), who refers to himself as “I” or “we”, expressed hope that people, including state leaders, would pray for the marriage to materialise.     

“I think that InsyaAllah, with the doa (prayer) of Tok Guru, dignitaries and friends, it will happen,” said the sultan.

However, Sultan Muhammad, who was proclaimed the sultan of Kelantan on Sept 13, 2010, did not elaborate.  

The sultan, known for his penchant for wearing a scull cap and flowing robe during meet-the-people sessions, is the eldest son of Sultan Ismail Petra.

He and his ex-wife, Tengku Zubaidah Tengku Norudin, did not have any children.
