Pembela chasing its own shadow

Interfaith council: No one is questioning Islam

Anonymous: Pembela and Perkasa are but twin organisations; both are chasing shadows and over-reacting and being over-dramatic on the slightest hint of a dissenting view.

They are trying to make bogeymen out of the non-Muslims, scaring the uneducated by their emotional outburst and rhetoric which usually does not make sense at all to the world at large; and only folks with the same circular logic would understand them.

Unfortunately we can't ignore them as they are out and about running around trying to cause trouble. To them it is not trouble they cause, it is jihad - they are fighting for their religion hence they can do no wrong.

They will never listen to reason as they believe firmly in their misinterpreted religious views by their equally twisted religious leaders.

Dingy: Pembela leader Yusri Mohamed is an academician and has a doctorate in Islamic studies but he speaks like an idiot. You should have seen the 101 East video on the Allah issue that appeared in Al Jazeera TV channel where Yusri, Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad and newspaper columnist Marina Mahathir spoke on this issue.

Viewers can judge for themselves what qualities Yusri has. It is dangerous to have a university lecturer with fanatical views because this will have a bad influence on students. God created human beings and all men are brothers. There is no race or religion that is superior than the others.

Dayakboy: As a Malaysian, I would like to extend my congratulation to MCCBCHST and their president, Rev Dr Thomas Philip, for their respond to the claim of Pembela that "Islam is under threat" through their spokesperson Yusri Mohamad.

I can see that Rev Dr Philip's respond is well-thought out, factual and objective. I have no doubt that members of the MCCBCHST all agree with what he said. I am afraid I may not be able to say the same about Yusri and his allegation.

True religion is in living a life of piety and not bragging about it or harassing fellow human beings who do not subscribe to it. By living it more would others be attracted to it. Ants are attracted to sugar because it is sweet, but they stay away from vinegar because is sour.

Kingfisher: The conventional wisdom is that all well reasoned and clearly argued logic will not be receptive to a narrow-minded bigot of whatever complexion.

Rev Dr Thomas Philip is obviously learned in such matters and to his credit he has patiently adopted an attitude to enlighten the uninformed. Some may even say that the Reverend "suffer fools willingly".

Present-day polemic about religion and race is not due to lack of established institutional and legal guidelines for the protection and the promotion of a progressive and equitable civil society.

The threat is due to the misguided and irresponsible emotions of a select group, fortunately only a minority, who want to impose subservience on others due to a false sense of superiority and from an inferior logic.

Tuah PJ: I come from a multi-racial, multi-religious family and we openly talk about religion and nobody condemns each other's religion. The non-Muslim sections of the brood have always respected, not just tolerated, my Islamic beliefs and customs.

In fact, they join me in my practices stating that all things are created by God/Allah and who are we to condemn otherwise. They all look forward to Bulan Pausa and Hari Raya . Now, I wonder why we Muslims feel that we are being threatened?

I don't see or hear any other community demonstrating against the setting up of a surau or mosque in their area. It seems to be just us. Sigh...

DontPlayGod: Yusri, who are the people in charge of all the organs of government? Who are those installed as sultans and having their own army? Who are people in charge of approval for the building of churches and temples? Do you know how many churches/temples have been approved for construction compared to number of mosques?

I say, Yusri, please don't insult the intelligence of your own race.

Patriot: An 18th century French writer had this to say: "All religions are founded on the fear of the many and the cleverness of the few." As seen in some recent controversial and incomprehensive statements by the "few" in a certain religion, they really go overboard with their "cleverness".

Najib's cycle rides to buy his favourite nasi lemak

Cannon: Gone are the days when public opinion can be molded by the Information Ministry and by government-controlled news and broadcasting media. People are no longer simple-minded and trusting of governmental authority.

Our politicians cannot pull wool over our eyes. The rakyat can discern the difference between noise and signal, hype and the real thing. PM Najib Razak can do all the talking. If he talks the talk but doesn't walk the walk, then his air time, for what it is worth, is only nasi lemak .

Anonymous_5fb: If you haven't used public transport, just say so, there is no shame for not using public transport. Why tell your story about cycling to buy nasi lemak ? By the way, have you tried cycling to school under hot sun and torrential rain, Najib?

AnakPinang: This is the extent of the intelligent talk by our PM: nasi lemak , football and nostalgia. Here is the DJ trying to get pithy, and true to form, the PM is again trying to distract, delude and deflect. If he thinks this is endearing to young urbanites, he should think again.

James Dean: What does Najib knows about the hardship of the rakyat? Born with a silver spoon in his mouth and chauffeured everywhere he wants to go, he won't know a thing about public transport. That is why he could not truly provided an answer when asked.
