Shadow cabinet: PKR power hungry, says DAP

Michael Tan: Sarawak PKR, please wake up! You only have three seats and that again, Batu Lintang was won by See Chee How riding on DAP's strength and influence. The shadow cabinet is only for the opposition to act as a watchdog. And it is only a shadow cabinet.

Even before becoming the government of the day, PKR is already fighting for power. PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim, what are you doing? Can't you control your own men?

Payo: Sarawak DAP chief Wong Ho Leng, you have no spirit of partnership and you have grown arrogant after winning 12 seats. All PKR wants is an equal partnership in decisions affecting the Pakatan Rakyat.

Why the hurry in announcing the shadow cabinet? Why can't Wong just leave this issue for the Pakatan Council to handle, instead of crying like a small boy?

Argonist: Whatever decisions made at a meeting like this would have to be finalised by the headquarters of all component parties. Wong, you don't need to be so haughty about it all. Just be humble and wait for the agreement from the top leaders.

Hamtang BN: All political parties are hungry for power. But DAP and PKR are acting stupid. Most of all, DAP. You are still not running the government. What you need is to appoint certain individuals within Pakatan to be responsible for certain portfolios.

Bear in mind not all successful candidates in state elections can be good in handling state issues. Furthermore, this will be bad press for the coming GE13. Just do your job, Wong.

Either you show more tolerance and stop washing your dirty linens in public or just stay out of the next GE. I am now considering if I have made the right choice before and whether I should to the same again.

Samuel Ng: Pakatan, Pakatan, Pakatan. You have not won the election, already fighting over shadow cabinet.

Darth Vader: DAP should stand up for its rights and not cower to the power-crazy PKR. It has already made concession in that it could have won more seats if PKR had been a good partner but that was not to be. Enough is enough and DAP must show PKR that in Sarawak, DAP is the force to be reckoned with.

Anonymous_4031: DAP's suggestion of setting up a shadow cabinet is to give a strong signal to Pakatan at the headquarters that it should do the same, if it is serious in taking over Putrajaya.

By the way things are going, I don't think Pakatan is ready to take control of Putrajaya. ‘Be Prepared' is the Scout movement's motto. Unless you are prepared, how could you convince voters to give you power?

Thundercat: Regardless of who is correct and who is wrong, any cooperation will definitely have issues or differing views when working together. Proper discussion and commitment to the welfare of the rakyat should take first place.

If Pakatan wants to win and rule the country, please work closely and be mature on handling issues. Discuss issues before airing to the public and showing disunity. Public quarrelling gives a very bad impression for both parties, and in the end both will be losers. Otherwise, don't expect the rakyat to vote for you.

Anti-Moron: As a Malay, I kind of agree that PM Najib Razak is ignorant of history. What do you mean by Umno defeating the British in securing independence? Umno could never have done it alone without help from MCA and MIC.

Who are the Malaysians here?

Anonymous_4031: Dr Bridget Welsh has written about the concerns of the ordinary people. There are the issues the government must tackle, and tackle fast.

In our fast-moving economy, the lives of ordinary people may be forgotten or just glossed over, and thus they are left behind. PAP has been running the government for decades and has successfully managed its economy. But the people want more and obviously dissatisfaction and resentment (especially with foreign workers taking away jobs from them) have creeped in.

Ksn: If Singapore's opposition can win five seats, that will be a blow to PAP. If they win anything above five, that will be victory for the people of Singapore and a slap in the face for PAP's arrogance.

It will also send the message to PAP that it time to loosen its iron grip on people's lives and allow more freedom.

But I admire the gigantic achievement of PAP under Lee Kuan Yew, which is there for the whole world to see, minus his human rights records and the unethical annihilation of so many prominent and not-so-prominent individuals who opposed him.
