Muhammad Azfar Mohamad Afandi, nine, son of Kartika Sari Dewi, was found drowned in Sungai Perak early today.

Sungai Siput police chief Supt Azman Salim said Muhammad Azfar's body was found floating in the river by rescuers at 1am, about 1km from the spot he fell.

According to Bernama , he said the body was sent to Sungai Siput Hospital for an autopsy before claimed by his family for burial in Kampung Jawang, Karai near Sungai Siput today.

Muhammad Azfar was reported missing two days ago while staying at the family retreat near Sungai Perak.

Kartika, a former part-time model, first got into the news when she was sentenced to six strokes of the cane after being found to have consumed beer in a local hotel.

Kartika pleaded guilty to a charge of drinking alcohol - an offence under the Syariah law in Pahang.

As a symbolic deterrence, the Syariah Court ordered the maximum sentence to be meted out: RM5,000 fine and six lashes of the whip. However, on Aug 24, 2009, Kartika's sentence was stayed.

It was eventually commuted to community service.
