Chia: Cop threatened to plant parang, drugs on me

Cannon: Police brutality and heavy-handedness is but one symptom of a political system that is broken. Over the years - from the time of Dr Mahathir Mohamad - the checks and balances in our law enforcement and criminal justice system have been dismantled.

Today, PRDM is bent out of joint and subservient to Umno, functioning as a sort of uniformed arm of Umno. The police force is working hand in glove with the Umno regime to repress the opposition and critics of the regime, violating the fundamental rights of citizens to assembly and free speech.

The home minister keeps one eye shut to the abuse of power by his hoods in blue. Umno-BN is rapidly turning our country into a police state, and our ailing democracy, whatever that's left, is close to toppling. PDRM has to be restructured from the top down to see any change, and this is not going to happen until there is a change of government.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Zulkifli Abdullah has complained that the Internet is being used to tarnish the image of PDRM. He ought to know better why the public is staying clear of the police. Heaven help you if you fall into the hands of the Malaysian police.

Mengxiang: You can engage the best lawyers but no one can convince me the victim (Chia Buang Hing) is not telling the truth. If the police personnel involved gets away this time, then there is no hope for this country. Guardians of the law? What a joke, but it is not funny.

P Dev Anand Pillai: Despite the police showing no remorse for the bullying that they constantly do with some ending up being killed in the process, the people still vote for the BN.

The people have to realise that if they don't use their power at the ballot box, the police will use their power on them, and there will be no one who can question them. So the choice is yours. Use your vote wisely or just accept being beaten and kicked around.

James Dean: Remember what our new deputy IGP, Khalid Abu Bakar, who was then CPO Selangor, said that a parang was found in the car which the late Aminulrasyid Amzah was driving?

And here we have Chia Buang Hing relating the same thing, "He said if I didn't say that my injuries were caused by a car crash and I was beaten by road bullies, he would plant a parang and drugs in my car."

This is the modus operandi of the cops - from top cop down to the mata-mata . Where can the innocent go and get protection against this kind of heinous underhand tactics to extort money, as in Chia's case, or try to cover up an extrajudicial killing? Only our courts can protect us from this and I hope that the courts will take judicial notice of this.

Sentinel: If the government does not show its sincerity in this case and punish the police officers if they are found guilty, the reputation of the police and the government will go down the longkang (drain) forever. Every Malaysian is watching the outcome of this case.

If the individuals are found guilty, the checks and balances for PDRM must also be put in place. The judge here has a very important duty to start this process.

M'siaKiniFan: Everybody is living in fear. This country is in crisis. I hope there are good cops out there who stand up for justice for all Malaysians.

Moontime: It's clear to me from so many cases before that the modus operandi for police is to frame innocent victims by planting incriminating evidence supposedly in their possession such as machetes and drugs.

If we know that the police are committing a crime such as above, is it possible to make a citizen's arrest? I don't think so. No one would like to mess with a person carrying a gun.

To the police officers out there, please remember what Spiderman's uncle said to his nephew: "With great power comes great responsibility."

Two Penang Umno reps don't buy Utusan report

ONG: "As a Malaysian citizen, when I first read the report, I did not believe it at all," said Hilmi Yahya (BN-Teluk Bahang).

What has being a Malaysian citizen got to do with whether he believes the report? The proper statement should have been, "As a person with a functioning brain, when I first read the report, I did not believe it at all."

Anonymous_5fb: Hilmi, how about as an Umno member, do you believe the Utusan report? Do you think you should condemn 'Big Dog', 'Marah Ku' and Utusan as a Malaysian citizen and an Umno member?

Up to now, unless I missed it, Najib Razak, as a PM and Umno president, has not condemned those involved in spreading such lies.

Malaysian for Malaysia: To all those Umno reps, please be sensible and do the right thing. If you continue supporting the party leadership and its agenda to apparently create chaos in this country, you will be known as collaborators with those that sought to destroy this country.

Please, please, please... let your common sense prevail and cross over to the side that wants to keep Malaysia harmonious and progressive.

Sentinel: Not only these two Umno backbenchers do not believe in the Utusan Malaysia report, satu Malaya pun tak percaya , but will that make Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein sit up and take notice?

I don't think so. He just wants the Malay votes in the rural areas at all cost, so to hell with racial harmony in Malaysia.
