Miffed with what it said is the "prejudiced, belligerent and disdainful" attitude of MCA president Chua Soi Lek toward Islam, Johor PAS Youth has lodged a police report against the former health minister.

"Statements and words uttered by Chua are clearly provocative and hurt the feelings of Muslims, and is an insult to Islamic teaching," said its deputy secretary Mahadzir Bin Mat Zili in a statement.

NONE Among the grouses that the youth wing brought up against Chua ( right ) are:

  • Likening an Islamic state to that of a theocracy;
  • Questioning Islamic teachings which forbade males and females who are can marry each other from touching;
  • Criticising Kelantan local authorities for allegedly forcing shops to close during AidilAdha celebrations;
  • Alleging that countries with a Muslim majority population are often un-democratic, backward, undeveloped and corrupt; and,
  • Said that he would be PKR's greatest supporter if they opposition party will agree to abolish the special Malay rights enshrined in the constitution.

Why Chua's mouth must be zipped

PAS Youth fears that if Chua is allowed to continue making such statements, it would provoke Muslims and trample upon their religious sensitivities.

"If allowed to continue, this may lead to tensions and disharmony among the multi-ethnic and multi-religious people of the country," added Mahadzir.

They are urging that police charge the MCA leader under section 298 of the penal code which provides for punishments for those who utter words with "deliberate intent to wound the religious feelings of any person".
