Several non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and Kelantan Umno Youth today held a protest against the Ladang Rakyat project.

The one hour protest that started at 9.30am was held in front of the state government office complex of Kota Darulnaim in Jalan Kota Bharu-Kuala Krai.

Kelantan Umno Youth chief Anuar Saffian then submitted a memorandum to the political secretary to the menteri besar, Wan Nik Wan Yusof.

The protesters were from Kelantan Anti-Corruption United Youth Movement, Kelantan Youth Council, 4B Youth Movement and 30 orang asli from Gua Musang.

There was some commotion involving some protesters and PAS members but it was resolved after the police intervened.

Anuar said the memorandum which demanded four things from the Kelantan PAS government was to seek justice as the people had been cheated.

They were detail of companies involved in Ladang Rakyat, bumiputera involvement, participants involved and the financial result from 2006-2011.

Kelantan PAS Youth chief Abdul Latiff Ab Rahman said it was prepared to hold talks with Umno Youth to discuss the alleged fraud.

"We have explained that there is no fraud in Ladang Rakyat project so many times. They were done via talks and the media, he added.

NONE Meanwhile, Orang asli representative Anuar Panis said that they were dissatistied with the project as it had deprived them of their source of income.

"We have lost our land to logging. Please help as we are being victimised," said the orang asli from Kuala Betis, Gua Musang.

In Tumpat, Menteri Besar Nik Aziz Nik Mat ( above ) said he will take legal action against the media and those alleging the state government of seizing the people's land for Ladang Rakyat project.

He said that the Kelantan PAS government did not seize the land as Ladang Rakyat project was developed on state land.

"How could we seize the people's land that come with titles," he told reporters after launching a programme for members of Koperasi Ladang Rakyat Negeri Kelantan Berhad (Kopeladar) in Kota Bharu today.

Commenting a protest for alleged abuse of Ladang Rakyat project today, Nik Aziz said he was not against protests but regretted slander against the state government.

Meanwhile, Deputy Menteri Besar Ahmad Yacob said 50,000 hectares had been developed under Ladang Rakyat project.

"The project involves 4,500 participants and ten companies appointed as developer with returns of RM49mil since 2006," he added.
