A senior Umno leader in Terengganu said today that he would quit his party post if the Barisan Nasional fails to win the state back from PAS in the next general election.

Terengganu deputy Umno chief Idris Jusoh made the pledge in response to the offer by the Kampung Development and Security Committees (JKKK) of Kuala Terengganu, Kuala Nerus and Besut to dissolve themselves if the BN failed to wrest back the seat.

"If you gentlemen are committed to dissolving the JKKK if the BN is defeated I too am giving you this commitment that I will resign if we lose this state," he was quoted as saying by Bernama.
