A former policeman fell to his death from the 16th floor of a hotel early today when he was believed to have tried to escape officers from the Federal Territory Islamic Department (Jawi).

Dang Wangi police chief ACP Zulkarnain Abdul Rahman said the 49-year-old man who was with a woman in her 40s fell onto the fifth floor balcony.

He told Bernama today that the case has been classified as sudden death.

He said that man died on the spot due to severe head injuries and the body was sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital.

Zulkarnain said the Jawi officers had recorded a statement from the woman.
