The MIC has no objections to former members applying to re-join the party, vice-president SK Devamany said today.

In efforts to re-unite MIC members, he said, the party leadership had made a pact to accept or consider re-entry in the shortest time possible.

Speaking to reporters after visiting the Education Initiative Programme and the Northern Corridor Initiative Authority in Kulim this evening, he hoped all quarters would understand the MIC aim of wanting a unified party.

Devamany, who is also deputy minister in the Prime Minister's Department, said MIC intended to re-group veteran members, as well as those who had left the party, to strengthen unity nationwide.

"This strategic move, along with the strengthening of party machinery and membership from within, would enable us to face the coming general election," he said.
