Peeved by confidential party information being posted on Twitter and Facebook , Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin wants the party to now come up with new guidelines to curb this trend.

According to Bernama , Khairy is upset that some Umno members were revealing such information, such as details of closed-door meetings, on social media websites and openly discussing it through phone text messages.

NONE He said a possible answer is to review the party's “code of ethics for press freedom and censorship”.

Although Umno practices freedom and transparency, Khairy argued that party members must still safeguard party secrets at times for the sake of the party.

He said he would be raising the matter during the next Umno supreme council meeting.

"We have come across such incidents. After meetings, secret and confidential matters have not only been revealed in Facebook and Twitter but also via SMS.

"As such, the review is necessary because in the past, the influence of the social media was not there. So, a code of ethics is needed to stop such practices," he said after opening the Wanita, Youth and Puteri Umno delegates' meetings of the Putrajaya Umno division here last night.

Khairy also said the movement would start identifying about 112,000 Umno Youth members, who have yet to register themselves as voters, within the next two months.
