Perak group: Raja Noor Jan not of royal lineage
Persatuan Waris Kerabat Negeri Perak (PWKNP) today asked Raja Noor Jan Shah Raja Tuah to stop claiming that he is a descendant of Perak and Malacca royalty, saying it had no basis whatsoever.
Persatuan Waris Kerabat Negeri Perak (PWKNP) today asked Raja Noor Jan Shah Raja Tuah to stop claiming that he is a descendant of Perak and Malacca royalty, saying it had no basis whatsoever.
PWKNP honorary-secretary Raja Omar Ikram Raja Abdullah Omar said the association had investigated the matter back to the reign of the 22nd Sultan of Perak, Sultan Abdullah Mohamad (1851-1857), and found Raja Noor Jan was not in the lineage.
“It is very clear that he (Raja Noor Jan) is not the son of a sultan or descendant of royalty... if he was, he has a legitimate claim but he is a person with no royal lineage at all,” Raja Omar Ikram told a press conference at a hotel in Ipoh today.
He said the association called the press conference to clear the air as there had been no end to claims made by Raja Noor Jan that he was of royal blood with the latest a television station carrying a broadcast of his claim that he was a descendant of the Malacca sultanate and would be the 35th sultan of Perak.
He added that the Perak royal lineage was well documented in the book ‘ A History of Perak ’ authored by RO Winstedt and RJ Wilkinson in 1934 wherein there was more proof that Raja Noor Jan’s claim was completely baseless.
Asked if PWKNP planned to lodge a police report against Raja Noor Jan, Raja Omar Ikram said the association would resort to the action if the latter persisted in claiming the Perak throne as his.
