Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim has taken Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein to task for the absence of immediate action against Kuang assemblyperson, Abdul Shukor Idrus, for openly owning and distributing the illegal Selangor Terkini newspaper.
Khalid said Abdul Shukor, who is also Selangor Umno information chief, had clearly violated Section 5 (1) and (2) of the Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984 for printing without a permit.
"I have sent a letter to Hishammuddin dated May 13, where I have relayed my regret with the Home Ministry and minister for not taking action although there are police reports lodged against Abdul Shukor and Selangor Terkini ," said Khalid in a statement.
His outrage seems to have been provoked by the fact that his government's official organ Selangor Kini 's name had obviously played on by the assemblyperson for his publication.
"The failure of the ministry and Hishammuddin to investigate has resulted in the attorney-general not being able to prosecute Abdul Shukor

, as there is uncertainty over the results of the authorities investigations or whether there will be further action."
Aside from the publication, a website bearing the same name has already been put up.
Ministry sitting on case, charge
Khalid said attorney general Abdul Gani Patail had in reply had said in his letter dated March 21 that the ministry had yet to submit the results of its investigations for further action.
"Hishammuddin's and the Home Ministry's failure to efficiently deal with this paper has resulted in it being continuously printed and distributed indiscriminately.
"I believe the same people are responsible for its publication as the Kuang assemblyperson's face is always printed on the front page of this illegal paper," he said.
He urged the ministry and Hishammuddin to investigate the matter as a second report had been lodged against Selangor Terkini on May 6, after two individuals were arrested for openly distributing this paper.
Khalid (left) also urged Hishammuddin to carry out his job as home minister effectively.
"He must do the job responsibly and trustworthily, and not be carried away his political inclinations so justice could be upheld and those who are guilty receive the proper punishment," he added.
