Raja Noor Jan Shah Raja Tuah defended today his claim that he is a descendant of Perak and Malacca royalty from the Raja Alang Abdul Rahman ancestry.

He refuted the claim by Persatuan Waris Kerabat Negeri Perak (PWKNP) yesterday that Sultan Abdullah Muhammad I had no son by the name of Raja Alang Abdul Rahman.

He said that in a book titled ‘ Tempat-Tempat Bersejarah Perak ’, written by NA Halim and published by the Museums Department in 1981, Sultan Abdullah Muhammad I was the 22nd Sultan of Perak whose ascent to the throne was proclaimed in 1851.

He claimed that in the book, there was a reference that Sultan Abdullah Muhammad I and his wife Raja Syarifah Ngah Aminah binti Raja Alang Rawin had three children namely Raja Loh Yusof (Sultan Yusof Syariffuddin Muzzafar Shah), Raja Sulaiman, Raja Pandak Abdul Rahman and Raja Pandak Budak Rasul.

“However, there is a factual error in the book because Raja Pandak Abdul Rahman should be Raja Alang Abdul Rahman because in the Perak royalty, the third child is ‘Alang’ and it is unlikely that there would be two in the family with the name of Pandak,” he told Bernama .

Yesterday, PWKNP asked Raja Noor Jan to stop claiming that he is a descendant of Perak and Malacca royalty saying it had no basis whatsoever.

PWKNP honorary-secretary Raja Omar Ikram Raja Abdullah Omar said the association had investigated the matter back to the reign of the 22nd Sultan of Perak, Sultan Abdullah Mohamad (1851-1857), and found Raja Noor Jan was not in the lineage.
