Syarikat Prasarana Negara Bhd, which recently announced a revision in pre-qualification criteria for construction works package under its Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) project, will be organising a briefing for interested contractors tomorrow.

The briefing will start at 11am at the MBPJ Civic Centre, Petaling Jaya.

"The briefing will cover all areas in regards to the pre-qualification exercise and Prasarana hopes that all interested contractors could attend the briefing," Prasarana group director (project development division) Zulkifli Mohd Yusoff said in a statement today.

Prasarana is the project owner for the proposed MRT.

The planned construction period for the proposed Sungai Buloh–Kajang MRT line is from 2011 to 2016 and when completed, it will provide a fast train service to 1.2 million people along the route.

It had on May 19 announced the revision of its pre-qualification criteria for elevated civil works, stations and depot work construction packages for the MRT following feedback received by the company from various parties including non-governmental organisations and to attract more contractors.

The work contract under the elevated stations and depots work packages and includes building works, station M&E works, traction and power sub-station building works, park & ride facilities, depot building drainage, depot equipment and landscape works while the work contract under elevated civil works packages include substructure works, elevated guideway structure and segmental girders.
