A man who was detained by police to shed light on a house break-in case was found dead in the Simpang Renggam police station lock-up, in Kluang today.

Kluang police chief ACP Mohd Fawzi Arshad said 25-year-old Nasrul Redzuan Mohamad was found hanging at 10.20am by a policeman who had wanted to relocate him to the Kluang district police headquarters.

"Nasrul Redzuan was arrested by police after he was believed to have broken into a house in Simpang Renggam, attacked and injured the owner in the 6.30am incident today.

"He was placed temporarily at the Simpang Renggam police station for report purposes. However, when the policeman on duty went to get him to be relocated, he was found hanging in the lock-up," he told reporters in Kluang today.

Mohd Fawzi said their investigation revelead that Nasrul Redzuan who hailed from the Bukit Rokan Utara Felda scheme in Gemencheh, Negeri Sembilan, had hung himself using a rope.

The body was sent to Kluang Hospital.
