The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today handed over a 344-page written submission to the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) investigating the death of political aide Teoh Beng Hock.

On Wednesday, conducting officers, Amerjeet Singh, Kwan Li Sa and Awang Armadajaya Awang Mahmud, as well as the Bar Council had handed over their respective written submissions to the secretariat.

On May 10, RCI chairperson, Federal Court judge James Foong had asked all parties to send in their submissions after the 70 witnesses called had testified during the hearing which began on Feb 14.

Teoh, 30, the political aide to state executive councillor Ean Yong Hian Wah, was found dead on July 16, 2009 on the 5th floor corridor of Plaza Masalam in Shah Alam after giving his statement at the Selangor MACC office located on the 14th floor of the building.

Besides Foong, the other members of the panel are former Federal Court judge Abdul Kadir Sulaiman, former Appeals Court judge TS Nathan, Penang Hospital's consultant forensic pathologist Dr Bhupinder Singh and consultant forensic psychiatrist Prof Dr Mohamed Hatta Shaharom, who is also dean of the Medical Faculty, Cuberjaya University College of Medical Sciences.

The setting up of the RCI was announced by Prime Minister Najib Razak on Jan 26, which among others, was to investigate the cause of Teoh's death after the Coroner's Court returned an open verdict.

During the proceedings, among the witnesses called to testify were pathologists, psychiatrists, Teoh's family members and MACC officers, while there were new information which did not appear during the inquest into Teoh's death.

The RCI will hand over its findings to Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin on June 24.
