National carrier Malaysia Airlines today said it will resume all its flights to China due to restored confidence in air travel following the recent Sars crisis.

"With restored confidence in air travel and increasing traffic demand, Malaysia Airlines is re-instating all its services into China," the carrier said in a statement.

Malaysia Airlines said it would give full details of its flight re-instatement plan at a press briefing on Thursday.

Malaysia Airlines has five routes to China - Beijing, Shanghai, Xiamen, Guangdong and Hong Kong.

China was officially declared Sars free by the WHO on June 24 and the global health body followed this up with an announcement earlier this month that the epidemic had been contained worldwide.

Malaysia had five probable Sars cases, including two deaths, but its economy was badly hit by the Sars outbreak in the region. - AFP
