Selangor Umno liaison committee deputy chairperson Noh Omar was evasive when asked about allegations that his party is behind the sex videos dropped into mailboxes of Selangor village heads.

“I do not know about this. I did not watch (the video). Has the Shah Alam MP watched it or not?” said Noh when contacted today over Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad’s statement at a press conference last Thursday.

NONE “If he has watched it, then I will answer,” Noh ( left ) said.

When pressed for an answer, the Umno Selangor leader persisted: “He (Khalid) himself has seen it? Was it good?”

Noh added that Pakatan Rakyat leaders should be pleased if the mass mailing of the video has caused the rakyat to feel unease about Umno.

Last week village heads in Selangor - a state that Umno has repeatedly announced it wants back after losing it to the Pakatan in the 2008 general election - complained that they had received copies of the sex video allegedly involving PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim. He has denied any involvement.

State Pakatan leaders including Khalid and exco member Ean Yong Hian Wah have received numerous complaints, and have accused Umno and BN of being complicit in the distribution.

NONE Khalid (left) said the police, in handling the sex video case, should be consistent in their actions with the manner in which they had dealt with the Dr Chua Soi Lek sex video scandal several years ago.

"When the Chua Soi Lek sex video surfaced, the police issued a strong warning against possession, or screening and watching it. A warning should be made this time, too," the PAS parliamentarian said.

The video was first aired to selected members of the press at the Carcosa Seri Negara hotel on March 21, by individuals calling themselves 'Datuk T'.

Opposition MPs have blasted the authorities for remaining evasive on police action against the trio, for the offence of screening and distributing pornographic material.

When pressed further, Noh countered that Umno is not responsible for distributing the discs.

“Don’t blame Umno, it’s not Umno who distributed it,” said Noh, who also thinks that the allegations involving Umno were made by Pakatan leaders who are now “feeling the heat” after the video made the rounds.

In fact, the Pakatan leaders should feel happy if the distribution of the video has riled up the sentiments of the people against Umno, he said.

“If it has a negative effect because the video made people angry, the opposition should feel happy.

“The opposition should rally for the video to be distributed wider. Why is the opposition worried?” he asked.
