Umno supreme council (MT) members will go to the ground in their respective states next month to get feedback on preparations for the coming general election.

Umno information chief Ahmad Maslan said they would also assist in holding mock polls next month as part of preparations for the election.

The feedback from Umno divisions will be used for the preparations, which would include setting up operations rooms and election committees, he told reporters today after receiving applications to join Umno from 64 former DAP members from Kampung Lembah Kinrara in Puchong.

"The supreme council members are the foster fathers (under the champion of the people programme), each of them are responsible for three to five divisions," said Ahmad, who is deputy minister in the Prime Minister's Department.

On the mock election, Ahmad said it would take about two months and the foster fathers were required to submit a report to the party leadership.

He said that Umno vice-president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi would be in charge of the simulated polls.
