Penang MIC Youth is miffed at Deputy Chief Minister II P Ramasamy for labelling their chief a 'mega-liar' over the 807 Opposition members who recently joined the BN component party.

NONE State MIC Youth chief J Dhinagaran ( left ) said that no one could deny that a group of DAP and PKR members had joined the MIC in front of the party's president and senator G Palanivel at the Kilat Club last Sunday.

However, that action seems to have ruffled the feathers of DAP Indian leaders who are trying to give the impression to ‘their Chinese warlords' that the community is still with the Opposition.

He added that it was public knowledge that Ramasamy was merely a "mandore without any power", as were the other four Indian state assemblymen who had not done anything for the Indian community in Penang.

"They say that the claim that 807 DAP members had quit the opposition to join MIC is a lie.

"But we should not worry about that and concentrate on regaining two state seats - Prai and Bagan Dalam - in the coming general election," he added.

Outright denial

Dhinagaran was referrring to Ramasamy's comment on Tuesday that Palanivel was a ' mega liar ' - unless he provides the list of the 807 people he claims had recently jumped ship to MIC.

NONE Ramasamy ( right ), the DAP deputy secretary-general, had said the new MIC leader, Palanivel, should not tell lies.

He outrightly denied that DAP members had crossed over to MIC in droves, as claimed by Palanivel, adding that the party had checked with all its branches, and the membership was "pretty intact".

Active body

To prove his point that the MIC was an active body, Dhinagaran pointed to various programmes organised by the party to improve the lot of the Indians.

These include the problems of Indians without birth certificates and identity cards which were addressed through the launch of 'Mydaftar' and 'Program Mesra Rakyat' in various areas.

He added that the party had successfully organised a Tamil New Year celebration at the Mines which saw a record 20,000 people participating.

"What has the Penang DAP, especially the Indian elected assemblymen, contributed to the Indian community in the state?" he asked.

Empty vessel

Meanwhile, Dhinagaran slammed Bagan Dalam assemblyman A Tanasekharan for "living in the past" and merely raising issues which had already been resolved.

"He is an empty vessel which is good at making statements," quipped Dhinagaran.

Dhinagaran urged Tanasekharan to state his stand on the promise made by Opposition and Pakatan Rakyat leader Anwar Ibrahim that Kampung Buah Pala would not be demolished.

He said Tanasekharan and the other four assemblymen did not have the guts to fight for the rights of the Indians because they feared that they would be "ostracised by their Chinese bosses" in DAP.
