The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has handed over investigation papers to the Attorney-General’s Chambers in connection with allegations made by the Malaysian Malays Network (JMM) that reports by The Malaysian Insider portal had insulted the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, other Malay rulers and the country’s religion and culture.

In a statement in Kuala Lumpur today, the commission said they had recorded statements from JMM and that the outcome of the investigation had been forwarded to the AG’s Chambers for further action.    

It further said that it was unable to share information on the investigation with any party to ensure the process is not affected.

The MCMC also expressed regret that JMM had hurled baseless accusations against the commission.

Recently, JMM claimed that the MCMC had failed to take action on the news portal for its articles, which it claimed were inflammatory, insulted the Malay rulers and defamed the country’s leaders.
