PKR has claimed that Registrar of Societies (ROS) was satisfied with the its reply and decided not to deregister the party.

In a brief statement today, PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution welcomed the ROS’s decision.

“Therefore the party has decided to withdraw its suit against ROS as the matter has been solved amicably,” read the statement.

Following a notice of deregistration sent by ROS on May 9, the PKR had written to the regulating body explaining why it should not be declared illegal.

According to the PKR, ROS had threatened to deregister the party for wrongfully dismissing its member, citing that it went against article 32.2.1 of the party’s constitution.

PKR then decided to challenge ROS’s decision in court, claiming that the notice was made in bad faith, illegal and unlawful.
