PAS central committee member Khalid Samad today launched a petition objecting to the holding of the MTV World Stage concert in I-City, Shah Alam, and called for it to be held elsewhere more suitable.
The Shah Alam MP said the petition is hosted on his
blog
and urged delegates to the party muktamar to back efforts by Shah Alam residents, who Khalid said are not happy with the plans to hold the concert in their area because of the traffic and noise disturbances it would cause.
“I ask delegates to go to my blog and put down your names, IC numbers and address. This is to protest this huge concert. The residents of Section 7 are dissatisfied because it (the concert) will cause congestion, noise (disturbance) and so on,” said Khalid ( left ).
The petition, addressed to Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim, calls for the concert to be held moved to another place more suitable for such events, such as the Bukit Jalil Stadium in Cheras which is fitted with better facilities for events such as the MTV World Stage concert such as parking lots and is located away from residential areas.
Among the other reasons for the objections to the concert being held in Shah Alam is that it was not befitting a city branded as a university hub and containing such institutions as UniSel, UiTM, MSU and PTPL to host an entertainment bonanza such as the MTV World Stage concert.
“Shah Alam’s” I-City is a centre of education, not a place for entertainment... Students of institutions of higher learning will be subject to the culture of idleness and festivities that does not help towards their development,” said the petition.
Khalid publicised another petition he was spearheading through his blog which concerns the delay over the construction of the Shah Alam Hospital.
"This petition, I am addressing the PM (Najib Abdul Razak) and I ask for the works minister to be sacked or that he resign if this project continues being put on hold."
