Kelantan has declared tomorrow a public holiday in conjunction with tonight's FA Cup final between Kelantan and Terengganu at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium tonight.
The announcement was made by Kelantan state secretary Aiseri Alias to ensure the safe journey of the state football fans on their return after watching the game.
He said the state government took the initiative to declare tomorrow a holiday in appreciation of the sporting spirit showed by the state football fans.
"This is the third time the state government has declared a public holiday in the state because of football. The first time was when Kelantan became the vice-champion in the Malaysia Cup in 2009 and then last year, when it became champion after beating Selangor," he said when contacted by Bernama .
He hoped that with tomorrow being declared a holiday, it would give more time for the football fans to plan their journey home.
RM1,000 each for Terengganu footballers
Meanwhile, Terengganu footballers will be rewarded RM1,000 to each by the Terengganu Football Supporters Club (Peteh) if the state squad lifted the coveted FA Cup tonight.
Peteh secretary Wan Mohd Azmi Wan Ngah said the footballers would also be honoured at a feast.
He said the club had chartered seven buses to take Terengganu supporters to the Bukit Jalil stadium for the final.
