From Nov 30, only one ticket will be required for commuters using the Kelana Jaya and Ampang light rail transit lines and the Monorail line in the Klang Valley.

Prasarana group managing director Shahril Mokhtar said this would be the result of a new intergrated ticketing system (ITS), technically referred to as the automatic fare collection, which eliminates the hassle of having to change lines, and will speed up the ticketing process to 60 passengers a minute.

However, this system only applies to the Kelana Jaya and Ampang Line areas and will be extended to the Monorail Line in the first quarter of next year," he told in Kuala Lumpur today.

Shahril said the new ITS system would utilise the Contactless Smart Media, which consists of the Contactless Smart Card for stored value tickets and pass, and Contactless Smart Token for single journey and return journey tickets.

"In the meantime, the system will be first implemented in three stages, starting July 5, for Touch 'n Go users in four different Putra light rail transit locations - Taman Paramount and Abdullah Hukum for the Kelana Jaya Line and Sultan Ismail and Bukit Jalil stations for the Ampang Line," he said.
