Yen Yen insists cabinet 'accepted' FB explanation

Kgen: How to accept Tourism Minister Ng Yen Yen's shallow explanation? It is wrapped in technical gobbledegook, generalities and vague intimations using bombastic words. There is no real breakdown of what the RM1.8 million is for. Is it for the design of the Facebook pages as her deputy said , or are the pages free as she claimed?

Then what exactly is the money used for? Is bandying the term "social media campaign" good enough to justify RM1.8 million? How did the mysterious Impact Creations win a RM30 million tender with not even its own webpage and no track record? The main asset of the company appears to be the owner's close relationship with the tourist minister.

Yen Yen has been caught with her pants down but is shamelessly trying to talk her way out. BN crooks are getting bolder; or are they out to rip off as much as they can before they are booted out?

Najib's daughter 'do': Who footed the bill?

Gerard Samuel Vijayan: As the sitting PM, Najib can use Seri Perdana as the venue for the engagement function but every single sen spent on the function from the dinner to the toilet paper and soap has to be accounted for and paid by him personally from his own funds.

This is not a state or official occasion to be financed by the taxpayers. I am surprised that the educated engaged couple could not have acted more appropriately by suggesting the function be held at a leading hotel and be paid for by both families. But for Umno, such ethical practices are unknown.

Even the recent royal wedding in the UK was paid for by the Queen and Prince Charles from their personal funds and only the security tab was picked up by the government since it was an official event.

Alas in Malaysia, both the rulers and Umno politicians behave in a feudal manner as if the whole country and its resources are their personal funds.

Realistic: If your leader is leading the way in pilfering the nation's coffer, what else can we say about those under him? I have viewed PM Najib Razak's 'I help you, you help me' video , and I must say it is really disgusting.

There is no accountability at all. He is giving and using money like there is no tomorrow, and the money is not even his. What more can you say about such a prime minister?

I paid my taxes last year. Unfortunately I was not invited to PM Najib's daughter's bash.

Even the US president pays for his family's food bill in the White House. This culture of pilfering from the nation's coffers has got to stop.

Thisia: The BN government stopped foreign-registered vehicles which are owned by Malaysians from buying NGV. The lame excuse given was that the government had to pay RM360,000 per year for the NGV subsidy.

The government cannot afford to pay RM360,000 for all Malaysians, but the PM wants us to pay RM80,000 for his daughter's reception.

Mr Bean: RM80,000 for the engagement? No wonder Najib is asking for RM13 billion more for the supplementary budget...
