The ponderous pace of verifying Companies Commission of Malaysia (CCM) documents adduced as evidence in the corruption trial of former Selangor menteri besar Dr Mohd Khir Toyo at the Shah Alam High Court struck a chord with presiding judge Justice Mohtaruddin Baki.

“ Banyak lagi? (Is there a lot more?)” he asked DPP Masri Mohd who conducted the examination-in-chief of CCM executive Noorijah Rambat after the court continued after lunch.

“ Sikit lagi, Yang Arif (Just a few more, Your Honour).”

The justice’s remark came after Masri walked Noorijah through over 40 CCM printouts of company documents, asking her to explain what each document indicated and verify each and every one.

Among the forms tendered were:

- form 9 (incorporation papers for private limited company)

- form 8 (incorporation papers for limited company)

- form 24 (issuance of shares)

- form 49 (change of directore of company secretary notification).

The CCM documents, many of which were then tendered as prosecution exhibits, involved companies where key prosecution witness Ditamas director Shamsuddin Hayroni served as director or holds a stake either directly or indirectly through holding companies.

The companies are:

1) Roniaga Sdn Bhd

2) Bidara Lumayan Sdn Bhd

3) Ditamas Sdn Bhd

4) Deltamix (M) Sdn Bhd

5) Majuria Sdn Bhd

Documents illustrate histories of the companies

The documents illustrated the histories of the companies, most of which began as two-ringgit paid up capital shell companies which were later bought over by Shamsuddin and injected with cash to raise their working capital to RM1 million or more.

It was understood from earlier testimonies that at least three, Majuria, Roniaga and Bidara Lumayan were involved with projects awarded by the state government or state owned companies.

The CCM papers documenting PNSB from its incorporation to Khir’s appointment as director and eventually to when current MB Khalid Ibrahim took over by virtue of becoming the new menteri besar after the March 2008 general election.

The last witness who took the stand for today was Noorizwandy Rajab, the nineteenth called by the prosecution to date.

Noorizwandy, a design consultant confirmed for the prosecution that he worked for landscaper Nasir Ismail who renovated the mansion that Khir bought from Shamsuddin.

Appointed as project manager for the project Noorizwandy related how he was responsible for drawing up the plans for the works to be done, though as he was unlicensed his plans were vetted and endorsed by an architect before being submitted to the MBSA for approval.

He also was in charge or documentation for the project, verifying that he wrote several letters and documents brought up during Nasir’s testimony earlier, and was engaged by the landscaper to follow up with the local government for approvals and manage his workforce and progress reports.

The trial was postponed until 9am tomorrow after Noorizwandy’s testimony.
