The government has yet to decide whether a royal commission of inquiry (RCI) should be called to probe a sex video which allegedly featured a man resembling Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim, said Prime Minister Najib Razak.
The government has yet to decide whether a royal commission of inquiry (RCI) should be called to probe a sex video which allegedly featured a man resembling Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim, said Prime Minister Najib Razak.
"We have not made any decision yet, there has been a multitude of views. The police have sent the video to experts for analysis and their findings have been presented in court," he said.
Najib, who is also BN chairman, told this to reporters after chairing a meeting of BN's supreme council at Menara Dato Onn tonight.
He was asked to comment on the findings of two United States experts that the video was not tampered or had any superimposition.
This was revealed in the Magistrate's Court here today when businessman Shazryl Eskay Abdullah and former Perkasa treasurer-general Shuib Lazim pleaded guilty after they were charged with screening the lewd video to reporters earlier this year.
Former Malacca chief minister Abdul Rahim Thamby who was charged in the same court with abetting the duo, also pleaded guilty.
Shazryl was fined RM3,000 or three months' jail, Shuib was fined RM1,500 or two months' jail, while Abdul Rahim was fined RM1,000 or one month's jail.
I did not meet Rahim, says Najib
Prior to this, there had been calls by various quarters for an RCI to be called to probe the video.
Najib said the people could also judge for themselves the authencity of the video.
"No matter what we say, what is most important is finding the truth," he said.
Asked on Anwar's allegation that Rahim had a meeting with him (Najib) at Parliament House yesterday, Najib said that was lie.
"No, he (Anwar) can say anything, but Tan Sri Rahim never met me, it is a lie," he said.
