Penang Opposition leader and Penaga assemblyman Azhar Ibrahim will know on July 26 whether he has to vacate his constituency's service centre as per the instruction by the state government.

High Court Judge Rohana Yusof set the date after hearing submissions from counsel Jahaberdeen Mohamed Yunoos representing Azhar and counsel Malik Imtiaz Sarwar, acting for the respondent, in her chambers Monday.

On Feb 17, Rohana had granted leave to Azhar to file a judicial application to challenge a notice issued to him by the Penang government to vacate the service centre and a stay on eviction in the interim.

Azhar, 65, of the Barisan Nasional (BN), had filed the applications at the High Court (Appeals and Special Powers) registry here.
