Indonesian President Megawati Sukarnoputri is to visit Malaysia for two days from tomorrow for talks to bolster relations and enhance economic cooperation, the foreign ministry said.

Megawati will meet Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad in Kuching, in Sarawak, as part of an annual consultation meeting between the countries' leaders, the ministry said.

Issues on agenda

Among the issues on the agenda were illegal immigrants, trade and investment, cooperation in education, commodities, haze mitigation, tourism and transportation, it said.

The leaders would also touch on terrorism, the upcoming Asean summit and the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) Summit in October, it said.

Megawati would be accompanied by her husband, Taufiq Kiemas, and several Indonesian ministers and senior officials.

They were scheduled to return to Jakarta on Friday.- AFP
