lim kit siang parliament pc 201008 kong cho ha Kong added he was concerned that the scheduled rally might create instability and pose a security threat to the nation.

“We cannot condone any form of street demonstration that will create havoc," he said in a statement here today.

He said the scheduled illegal gathering on July 9 was widely reported by the international media and this, in turn, had brought a bad impression on Malaysia.

Kong, who is also transport minister, said the public could evaluate the situation and judge for themselves if the opposition parties were inconsistent in their claims as the street demonstration was all about politics and chaos.

"It is important for the silent majority, businesses and those in the transportation industry to speak up their mind. Many people in the Kuala Lumpur area had experienced the destructive effects of illegal rally before (in 2007).

“It is time for taxi, bus and lorry operators, petty traders, shop owners and owners of businesses to make a stand through various channels,” he added.
