Kedah Umno Youth today filed a police report regarding two congratulatory banners purportedly from the movement, though Kedah Umno Youth chief Badrol Hisham Hashim said the banners were, in fact, fake.

The banners, showing the picture of Kedah Umno chief Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah, were displayed at the Federal Building near Jalan Sultan Badlishah roundabout and at the Darulaman Stadium roundabout in Alor Setar.

The banners contain wordings congratulating Kolej Universiti Insaniah (Kuin).

"We want to stress that neither we, nor our agents, are involved in installing the two banners.

"These are acts aimed at creating negative perceptions towards Kedah Umno Youth, as though it is at the moment involved in issues regarding the college," he told reporters after filing the report at Kota Setar district police station.

Badrol Hisham said among the issues affecting the college were suspensions of several students as well as recent demonstrations, also involving students.

He added that the movement took the banners down on Saturday.
