Maziah Manap, wife of the late Ahmad Sarbaini Mohamed, who was found dead at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Comission (MACC) building in Kuala Lumpur, is raising suspicions of foul play and wants a police investigation.

"We are not accusing (anyone), but the possibility that there could have been criminal elements or foul play leading to his death cannot be ignored," she said in a press statement.

NONE Maziah's ( left ) suspicions were aroused after fugitive blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin named in his website an MACC officer ordering Sarbaini to stand on a window ledge as 'punishment' for trying to retract his confession in a graft case.

Raja Petra claimed that in obeying the order, Sarbaini's belt got stuck on the outer part of the window, resulting in loss of balance, sending him plunging to his death.

"In light of the new leads by Raja Petra, we will be making a police report soon about the revelation and hope that police will investigate thoroughly, without fear or favour, so that the truth can be uncovered," Maziah said.

Enough to call for probe

NONE She said the decision came after the inquest into her husband's death threw up an abundance of signs pointing to a 'spectacular attempt' to destroy information or evidence.

Among other anomalies cited by Maziah were that the CCTV in the room had malfunctioned at the exact moment of Sarbaini's death while the security door to the CCTV recordings was unlocked, despite an earlier inquest testimony that it was always kept locked.

A police officer had testified during the inquest that the CCTV footage had been erased by someone with technical expertise.

Maziah also pointed out that one of the MACC witnesses turned very nervous when she was recalled to testify at the inquest while another was not allowed to testify on previous alleged suicide attempts at the MACC complex.
