Police will not prevent PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu from suing the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) for allegedly being hit by a police car during the illegal rally on July 9, said inspector-general of police Ismail Omar.

He said police could not stop the action of any person wanting to sue any party including the police.

“It’s okay. That is his (Mohamad’s) right, we do not prevent him (from suing us). We are professional, and I had already promised to show the video on the illegal rally.

“Yesterday, we clarified through the video on what happened during the rally. It is up to any party to judge,” he told a press conference after the Balai League Table award presentation (for best police station in the country) in Kuala Lumpur today.

azlan Ismail was commenting on Mohamad’s statement in a news portal on his intention to sue the police after he was allegedly hit by a police car during the illegal rally.

        

Yesterday, police screened a video which showed that the motorcycle on which Mohamad was riding pillion, was not hit by a police 4WD Pajero as alleged, but when the motorcyle was making a U-turn, it hit the Pajero’s fender which caused the motorcycle to go out of control before skidding in the Seri Persekutuan housing area.

Asked whether police could take action on Mohamad’s alleged false report, Ismail said: “The investigation is still under way. We do not make any assumption that the report was false.

“We are also investigating several individuals regarding their offences during the illegal rally.”

On Bersih’s plan to hold another assembly in Putrajaya tomorrow, Ismail said police would as usual be carrying out their duty to protect the security of the country.

“I advise those who are bent on causing causing uneasiness to others, to drop the idea. We will be monitoring the situation. We will not hesitate to act against anyone out to create tension and trouble by holding such a rally,” he said.
