Serdang MCA leaders wore a different hat today and, claiming to be the spokespersons of ‘friends and supporters’ of Teoh Beng Hock, demonstrated against the latter’s former boss, demanding his resignation in owning up to his ‘share’ of the responsibility for Teoh’s death.

Allan Liew Sin Kim, who heads Serdang MCA’s public and complaints bureau, led a brief protest gathering at a multipurpose hall a few hundred metres from Selangor exco member Ean Yong Hian Wah’s office in Seri Kembangan.

According to media reports, other MCA leaders who participated included Serdang MCA chairperson Liew Yuen Keong and PKR turncoat Ng Lum Yong.

Teoh, 30, was Ean Yong’s aide until his untimely death in July 2009.

His body was found sprawled on the fifth floor of the Selangor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) then building in Plaza Masalam after falling from the 14th floor.

He had undergone a night of interrogation by officers of the anti-graft body.

Sin Kim, however, sought to turn Ean Yong’s demand on its head and questioned whether the DAP leader also was not responsible for the tragedy that took place two years ago on July 16.

"He was supposed to accompany Teoh to the MACC office but he didn't.

"He also didn't find out what happened to Teoh until after his body was found,” Liew was reported by The Star as telling reporters after the gathering this morning.

"Teoh Beng Hock was a good personal aide to him. He would do anything asked by YB. After his death, YB just washed his hands off. The family of Teoh Beng Hock should be compensated by YB."

He said that today’s protest is just the first, and that in the near future they will go nationwide.

China Press daily reported that the hundred-odd crowd wore yellow shirts, and gathered outside the Sri Kembangan multipurpose hall.

They gathered for just ten minutes, and dispersed when asked by police after holding up a banner and shouting a demand for Ean Yong’s resignation.

A royal commission of inquiry report into his death last week concluded that Teoh was driven to commit suicide and blamed intensive interrogation by three MACC officers.

Ean Yong accuses group of 'acting'

In an immediate response, Ean Yong through his Facebook page, slammed Serdang MCA leaders, accusing them of “acting”, since they were never Teoh’s friend when he was alive.

He also added that these people didn’t even attend Teoh’s memorial ceremonies.

“Where did you all hide all this time, why didn’t you dare show your faces? The heads of Serdang MCA have humiliated Teoh and their own dignity!”

On the same page, Teoh’s sister Lee Lan also questioned whether the so-called “Teoh’s supporters and friends” group had a hidden agenda.
