Don't dispute validity of electoral roll, says EC
The Election Commission (EC) reminded all the relevant authorities, especially in Sabah, to refrain from making baseless accusations with regard to the validity of the electoral list.
The Election Commission (EC) reminded all the relevant authorities, especially in Sabah, to refrain from making baseless accusations with regard to the validity of the electoral list.
EC deputy chairperson Wan Ahmad Wan Omar said the EC had obtained the data of eligible voters from the National Registration Department (NRD).
“Claims that the list contained phantom voters or voters with illegally obtained MyKad, is the same as challenging the integrity of the NRD when issuing citizenship.
“If there are any doubts, do not just hurl accusations but show us the proof. I urge those with such evidence to come forward,” he told reporters after meeting Sabah EC officers in Kota Kinabalu today.
Wan Ahmad said the EC had also appointed 547 assistant registration officers from political parties in Sabah to oversee the registration process.
He said until May this year, 864,941 of the 1,169,884 eligible voters in Sabah had registered themselves to vote.
