The health condition of Kedah Menteri Besar Azizan Abdul Razak is more stable and he is to undergo angioplasty to widen a narrowed blood vessel of the heart, according to a state executive

councillor.

Health, NGOs, Human Development, Science and Innovation, Information Technology and Communication Committee chairman Dr Ismail Salleh said Azizan had undergone the angiogram procedure to detect the narrowed vessel after he was admitted to the National Heart Institute on Friday.

“Several procedures and examinations have to be made before the angioplasty can be done. I think it may take a month before the corrective procedure can be carried out,” he told a news conference in Alor Setar.

Dr Ismail said Azizan would resume duties as usual in about a week pending the angioplasty procedure, but he had been advised to restrict work outside the office.

“I believe he will be transferred from the CCU (Cardiac Care Unit) to the normal ward today or tomorrow,” he added.
