One can apply for and get a Malaysian international passport or travel document in one hour in Sarawak following the introduction of the 1Stop counter service on Aug 1.  

Sarawak Immigration Department director Robert Lian said today the people could now apply for their documents as well as make the payment, enquiries and checks at just one counter.  

"We had a trial run from July 1 to 31 at the Immigration Department headquarters here. After seeing that the process time was slashed, we decided to implement it on Aug 1," he told Bernama.   

Robert said passports or travel documents would be ready within one hour after payment had been made, and could be collected by the applicant at another counter.

The counters are open from 7.30 am to 5.30 pm Monday to Friday, and from 8 am to 1 pm on Saturday and Sunday.

He said the 1Stop Counter service would be extended to other towns should there be positive feedback from the public.
