People of all faiths use the world ‘Allah' and the phrase ‘Insya'allah' without any problem and the government is tolerant to all religions in a very respectable manner, unlike Malaysia.

There is such a high degree of tolerance so much so that non-Muslims join their Muslim brothers to fast during Ramadan.

Soon, there might be some Shiite or Wahhabi texts ‘found' behind some mosques in Perlis and Penang, together with questionnaires asking people ‘What is Shiite/Wahhabi Islam?', dozens of machetes, homemade petrol bombs (in plastic bottles) and photos of the Ayatollah.

I won't be surprised if, together with this wondrous cache of ‘dangerous items', there are also books on communism, Judaism and Christianity, as well as documents showing evidence of funding from ‘foreign elements', including George Soros, the Tamil Tigers, Israel and a particular South Korean intern.

There will surely also be newspaper clippings on the London riots, manuals on how to wage war against the king, country, race and religion, hundreds of yellow T-shirts, letters promising aid for religious conversions, and instructions on how to spread ‘disinformation' and ‘lies' through online news portals.

Only lesser Islamic-educated individuals who happened to be from Umno favour loud noises from mosques as their understanding of Islam is usually superficial.

Anonymous_4056: Prayer is a very personal matter between you and God and certainly not meant for others to listen with amplified voice. At that early hour, certainly many others need to catch up on sleep due to one reason or another, and respecting them would earn much respect in return.

Fatwa should have been referred to king, says Zahid

Malaysian for Malaysia: Umno vice-president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, a fatwa need only be issued when there is no Quranic verse or hadith to support it. In this case, it is fully supported by a hadith sahih and thus, it is law for us Muslims.

Most people in Umno especially despise the laws on usury, adultery, gambling, drinking, corruption, bribery, and of course, the list goes on. To weigh in on a simple matter like this, especially when there is a clear hadith on the matter, smacks of your utter ignorance.

Don't drag Tuanku into this matter. It seems to be a trend these days by Umno to drag the royalty in on everything. This matter is beyond the Agong as the authority of the hadith stands higher than anything other than the Quran itself.

PAS Youth 'aye' for Penang's loudspeaker fatwa

Md Imraz Muhammed Ikhbal: Even Muslims have the right to peace and quiet whilst they sleep just as we have the right to wake up at the wee hours of the morning to pray or read the Quran.

There is no compulsion in Islam and those who self-proclaim to be Muslims better be acquainted with this concept and cease to shove down the throats of others their religious followings.

The five-minute call of azan should indeed be broadcasted sufficient to wake Muslims up to perform their prayers. That is what azan is all about and I doubt the non-Muslims are that intolerant as fellow citizens.

But broadcasting the reading of the Quran in the wee hours of the morning whilst others are sound asleep when it is not even required by Allah is being sheer inconsiderate and idiotic.

Those who persist in disturbing others as a show of their religious supremacy are no champions of Islam - they are sheer disgrace and embarrassment to Allah's beautiful religion.
