Kedah Menteri Besar Azizan Abdul Razak is on medical leave until Aug 29 and has been advised to have complete rest by the doctors who had attended to him at the National Heart Institute in Kuala Lumpur where he was warded for two weeks.

Azizan said he was still under observation and had been allowed to have follow-up treatment here. He was admitted to the institute following high blood pressure and chest pains on July 29.

“They (the doctors) want to monitor my blood pressure, blood glucose level and heart. I was under medical care for two weeks. I am still under observation. I have not gone on leave for three years now.

“However, I will come to the office to do some light work. I will attend important functions,” he told reporters after he had chaired a meeting of the state executive council at Sri Mentaloon, the official residence of the Kedah menteri besar in Alor Setar.

Azizan said the doctors had told him that he did not have any blocks in the heart, and that he was to undergo follow-up treatment and rest well.
