AirAsia Group’s passenger traffic for July 2011 rose 19.3 percent to 2.648 million from 2.218 million a year ago, with a major chunk contributed by AirAsia Malaysia.

AirAsia Malaysia carried 1.54 million passengers in July, an increase of 12.1 percent from 1.37 million passengers it carried in the same month in 2010.

Its other units are in Thailand and Indonesia which carried 567,100 and 541,220 passengers respectively for the month of July, said the airline in a statement today.

It said load factor for the group also rose to 82 percent from 79 percent previously.

AirAsia Malaysia saw its load factor increase by three percentage points to 81 percent from 78 percent.
