The Islamic Development Department (Jakim) has confirmed that only the Pure Creamery Butter-Golden Churn produced by Ballantyne Food Pty from New Zealand is non-halal.

Its director-general, Othman Mustapha, said the decision was made at a meeting with the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry, Chemistry Department, the Health Ministry’s Food Safety and Quality Division, the Sarawak Islamic Religious Department and the Johor Islamic Religious Department on Aug 8.
Hence, Jakim in a statement took to task the media which had published information or pictures of other butter products besides the product manufactured by Ballantyne Food Pty as non-halal.
Ballantyne Food Pty is located at Allen Street Morrinsville 3340, New Zealand.
On July 19, the Sarawak Islamic Religious Department declared the product used by a handful of kek lapis (layered steam cake) entrepreneurs as non-halal as it was found to contain pig DNA, thus affecting the cake business.
