Disgruntled with police inaction on the report of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) into Teoh Beng Hock's death, an opposition MP today lodged a police report and called for an immediate investigation against three anti-graft officers named in the report.

After lodging his report at Klang district police headquarters this morning with Klang DAP parliamentary liaison committee members, the MP for Klang, Charles Santiago, said a police investigation was necessary.

There is sufficient evidence in the report and police should have investigated content of the report, without waiting for any report to be lodged to do this," Charles ( right ) said when contacted.

The 124-page report concluded that Teoh was "driven to commit suicide by the aggressive, relentless, oppressive and unscrupulous interrogation" of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers and named three of them as responsible for Teoh's death.

They are the then Selangor MACC deputy director Hishamuddin Hashim and two of his enforcement officers - Mohd Anuar Ismail and Mohd Ashraf Mohd Yunus.

Hishamuddin, who has been with the MACC for 21 years, was described by the report as an " arrogant leader " while Mohd Ashraf was dubbed as the 'abuser' who was Machiavellian in his methods to secure evidence.

NONE However, Hishamuddin ( left ) has been promoted since Teoh's death. He is now Negeri Sembilan MACC director.

"They promoted the wrong officer, a man who allegedly broke the law, and directly or indirectly caused a death in MACC custody," Charles said.

Despite calls to charge the trio for Teoh's death, MACC only suspended them pending an internal investigation.

MACC director of investigations Mustafar Ali said there would be no further suspension of others, besides the three officers, and that no time frame had been fixed for the internal probe.

Mustafar also said the internal probe would focus on administrative and procedural issues, while the criminal investigations would be left to the police.

Selangor police won't investigate

However, Selangor police have decided not to investigate the findings of the report as "nothing was said about them breaking the law".

"From the findings of the RCI, they were found to have used aggressive, persistent and unscrupulous questioning methods on Teoh, which violated MACC's procedures. However, there was no finding of criminal offence in the political aide's death," Selangor police chief Tun Hisan Tun Hamzah was quoted in a Malay Mail report.

Rejecting this stance, Charles called on Inspector-General of Police Ismail Omar to step in.

"Police are the authority to investigate. If the Selangor police refuse to investigate, the IGP should do it, otherwise everybody will go scot-free," he said.

Teoh was political aide to Selangor exco member Ean Yong Hian Wah. He was found sprawled on the fifth floor landing of Plaza Masalam, Shah Alam, on July 16, 2009, after being held overnight for questioning by the Selangor MACC at its headquarters on the 14th floor.
